Anne Rice says-

"I'll buy your book immediately.  Also I hope you photographed my husband's mausoleum in the Metaire Cemetary.  His poems are inscribed in stone on the side of the little chapel.  And the stained glass window design is taken from one of his paintings.  My daughter is buried there too.  --  I think with your book, tying into a city that is severely threatened is important.  New Orleans is really in danger, and parts of it, as you well know are vanishing forever as we speak, and more may be lost before this next season is over.  So I think tying into that, that is significant.  ...  it's a city threatened directly by time, a unique and irreplacable part of America.  I wish you the best.  Take care, Anne"

At this time all that is needed is a publisher.

The book is divided into sections...

The Cemeteries

The French Quarter

The Garden District

The Big Easy

The creator

Leslie Wallace took all of the photos in the book and has manipulated the images to create stunning visual effects.  She is a writer and artist who has lived in New Orleans and donates her art generously to the charities there.  She has previously shown and sold art in galleries and even owned one for a time in New Orleans.  Now she only works for charity or commission.

This book began after an event that happened in Oddfellows Rest cemetery on my first visit there.

I was listening to my friend talk about the columns that had fallen down on some mounds.  The restorers had tried to get them up with the help of 6 men but were unable to lift the heavy columns.  I hung back near the rare in ground burial sites and the group moved on.  Inside my head I heard a man speak and I could feel him.  He said "It's o.k. you will fix it."  I knew that I was hearing the voice of a dead man and I knew it was the one who was buried at my feet.  I could feel him and very dimly, his wife although she was pretty much dormant.

I have been visiting that cemetery and trying to find a way to help ever since.

I have had numerous experiences in the cemeteries and all over the city.  I have listened to the stories from eyewitnesses and all the traditional tales.  In Spirited New Orleans these stories are told along with the poetry and art my experiences there have borne.
